Welcome to the Portugal collection—where the national personality is basically(1) quiet confidence,(2) louder confidence about things that happened a few hundred years ago, and(3) arguing about football like it’s a constitutional duty. Portugal was a full-on maritime exploration powerhouse in the 15th and 16th centuries - which means Portuguese families have had centuries to perfect the art of casually reminding you, “Yes, we discovered things.” 

And then there’s football - Portugal’s most popular sport, the unofficial second language, and the reason perfectly normal people can turn into tactical analysts in under 30 seconds. 

But Portugal isn’t just swagger and sport - it’s also the only place where you can stare at azulejos (those iconic painted ceramic tiles that are a major part of Portuguese architecture and decorative art) and immediately feel like your standards for “acceptable wall décor” have been permanently raised.

 
Then you top it off with fado - the soul-music of Portugal that UNESCO recognizes as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity - which is basically what happens when a country decides to turn longing, fate, and late-night feelings into a competitive art form. 

This collection is my little tribute to that whole vibe - because my family’s from Portugal (shout-out to the tiny-village roots; my family’s from Cunha Baixa and Moimenta do Dao - both near Viseu), and apparently I cope with nostalgia by burning it into wood like a healthy person.
